Gala Prize-Giving Ceremony

Manchester Literature Festival

Under the direction of Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, The Manchester Writing School at MMU launched the first Manchester Fiction Prize in early 2009. The competition was designed to find the best new short stories and celebrate them in Manchester – one of Europe’s most adventurous and creative spaces. By the closing date of 7th August, the prize had attracted more than 1,700 entries from over 40 countries.
